"Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?' (Song of Solomon 8:5) Would you expect the spiritually mature Christian to be a veritable pillar, standing up head and shoulders above others?
It is the believer who has become so broken, humble, weepy and soft that she cannot hardly stand up. She has been so broken by the wilderness that she depends on her beloved for every step.
When God has completed His work in us we will have an abandoned obedience, a matured love, a selfless servant hood.
How amazing the picture: The Bride has struggled with affliction, difficulties, temptations and dry seasons in God and tears. But look! She is coming up from the other side of the desert, and notice the most amazing thing; She is "leaning on Her Beloved."
The mature Christian knows that we grow and depend on our "Beloved" more as become weak, helpless...the mature Christian will have absolute dependence on the greatest Love of their life.
The greater the dependence, the
greater the maturity.
